Canoes as well as Solo and Tandem Kayaks are available on the mild and scenic "UPPER" - Section 1 of the Broad River.

The "Upper" [Section 1] is a mild 6 mile scenic float with small rocky shoals and grand vistas. We recomend 2-4 hours for a relaxing pace in a magnificant setting.

This is the perfect canoeing destination for families with young children and nature lovers. As you are unlikely to get wet/flip on this section, it is an ideal float for the cooler months.

Many birds including blue herons, king fishers, and hawks, Osprey and even Bald Eagles can be spotted along with countless turtles of 3 or more species.  You will paddle through a native American fish weir and start and pass by a historic covered bridge pylons.

For this section, we shuttle you up stream to the Hudson River where it soon merges with the Middle Fork to become the Broad River. The take-out is at "The BRO" where your vehicle is parked.  Remember, land along the river is private property.

A 10-mile section of moving scenic water is also available for a longer scenic trip (approx. 5-8 hours).  The river is 'close and intimate' as the North Fork joins with the Middle Fork and finally with the Hudson River, the largest tributary,  to create the Broad River.

The BRO will help to facilitate multi-day trips to Clarks Hill Reservoir where the Broad River joins the  Savannah River.
